If you’ve been following some of us, or the SWA Ski Club social media pages, you’ve no doubt noticed that we’re having a hard time letting go of winter. It’s all part of our plan that was no doubt the product of more than several late night alcoholic beverages. We’re not even sure who, where or when we decided to try to be on the snow at least once during each month of 2024.
We’re doing pretty good so far. we closed a few of the Utah resorts in April and May. We also added a few days in Colorado in May just for fun. The above picture was taken on June 9th. We thought that this was the final weekend for skiing/riding at Arapahoe Basin. They tricked us by announcing that they will be open for an additional week, ending the Colorado season on Sunday, June 16th.
No problem…we’ll just go again.
That’s the main reason for this email. To let you know of our “12 months of snow” or, “#EndlessWinter” project.
If you’re free this weekend and are in Colorado, you should join us! Lifts are spinning at A-Basin on Friday, Saturday and Sunday June 14, 15, 16, 0830-1400 each day. A few of us will be there on Saturday. I can be there on Friday and Saturday if others can join me on Friday. A day trip on Saturday is the best option.
Our #endlesswinter schedule for the rest of ’24 is taking shape.
Check your schedules and join us at any or all of these destinations.
July 14-16 Mt. Hood, OR.
August 23-27 Valle Nevado, Chile
September ???? Possibly the indoor ski hill in New Jersey. Or the one in Dubai…or a return to South America and a resort in Argentina.
By October and November, we could be back on snow in Colorado. We’ll just wait and see.
Feel free to reply to this email, or message me if you want to know more about any of these trips.
In other news, I attended the NAASF Team Captain’s summer meeting last week. It was held via Zoom. Many items were discussed, several were voted into the NAASF bylaws and racing rules.
There’s three items discussed that I should let you know about.
1) Don’t bring your own alcohol into any of the NAASF Ski Week social functions. Our most recent host, Telluride sent a strongly worded letter to our NAASF executive council concerning this. You and/or NAASF could be fined up to $10,000. Plus NAASF could be in violation of their contract with the host resort. As Telluride is our spring Ski Week host for another two seasons, I’ll bet that they’ll be very watchful of such things.
2) We should expect to see a cutoff date for future NAASF Ski Week registrations. There’s also a chance of a higher registration fee after a certain date. The driving force behind this is to get our attendance numbers into the resort in a more timely manner. Late registration make preparations very difficult. Register early. If you don’t attend, you can always receive a refund.
3) Winter Park, Colorado will be our host for our February ’26 NAASF Ski Week. The dates are Feb 8-14, 2026. This announcement completes our schedule for ’26. It’s a good lineup of resorts. Palisades, CA in January, Winter Park in February, Then, back to Telluride in late March. The International Ski Week will be decided within the next few weeks. I’ll update you asap.
Thanks for reading. More info coming soon.
