NAASF Ski Week #2 Steamboat

It’s going to be a busy time before and during our Ski Week in Steamboat Springs. The Winter Carnival is taking place (Feb 8-12) and if you’re able to begin your Ski Week a few days early, you’ll find plenty of things to do and see. Here’s a link to the Winter Carnival schedule.
If you’re arriving just a day early and for some strange reason have always wanted to learn how to Nordic ski, Jim Tullos has arranged for a group lesson and training session to be held on Sunday, Feb 12th. You’ll need to contact Jim directly to arrange lessons and rental gear. His email address is; Jim@Fundensity.com.
Sunday is also “Super Bowl Sunday”. You’ll want to get your seats early for any watch parties. Pregame festivities begin at 4:30 MST.
Ski Week Registration
If you’re attending this NAASF Ski Week you will need to register on the NAASF Website and pay the $170 Ski Week registration fee. For discounted lift tickets, you will use a link that’s available after you register. You’ll click on the “bell” symbol that appears in the top right corner of the “You ARE registered” screen. You’ll also see offers for rental gear. However, you might find better prices with our friends at Powder Pursuits. They are located street level at the Steamboat Grand. I am currently the only Southwest registered attendee. I sure hope that more of you plan to attend.
Ski Week Itinerary
Before I post the itinerary, I just want to point out that the tentative location for the A group giant slalom is on “All Out”. If that holds true, it will be quite a show. You’ll want to find some time during the day on Wednesday to watch and cheer on the competitors.

In other Ski Club News….

At out Team Dinner in Taos, we announced that we can no longer order the Arctica Comp (midnight blue) coat. They’re on sale on the Arctica website. However, large is not available for men. And all sizes are zero stock for women. Youth XL is still available. If you can find one a your local retailer, or elsewhere online you should buy it. We’ll get it embroidered for you.
We’re not going to change coats again. At least not for several years to come. So, if you want a Ski Club coat, go find your best looking dark blue, or midnight blue coat that gives you the warm and fuzzies. We can send it to our embroiderer and make it an official coat for a small fee.
Switching gears….. The 62nd World Airlines Ski Championships is not too far away. We have 12 registered to attend so far. There’s no deadline to register. Just do it before the opening ceremonies. Also, My idea to book our entire Team at the Robukta Lodge didn’t go over so well. We never reached a number of interested people to make it economical. And, probably the best excuse is that the Robukta Lodge never returned any of my emails. That’s fine by us. There’s still plenty of great lodging options in the Tromso City Center.
I’m working on a list of activities and excursions to add to the events already taking place while we’re there. You should see those after our Steamboat Ski Week.
Here’s the link for registering for the WASC in Tromso. Plus, lodging and much more information about the area.

That’s all for now. hanks for reading.
